Davide Astori has been remembered at his funeral in Florence, reports the Mirror sport.
The 31-year was preparing for a Serie A match against Udinese, but was found dead in his hotel room on Sunday morning, leaving the world of football in shock.
He was brought back to Florence from Udine on Wednesday as his body was left at the Italian FA centre in Coverciano.
The funeral took place in the Basilica di Santa Croce, with his Fiorentina teammates among the first to arrive.
All matches last weekend were postponed while Fiorentina and former club Cagliari have retired the No.13 shirt.
Action resumes in Serie A this weekend as Fiorentina starts life on the pitch without their Captain when they play host to Benevento.
