Paul Pogba has explained in a message to Manchester United supporters why he has had to miss the FA Cup trip to Huddersfield.
During his press conference on Friday, United’s manager -Mourinho insisted that Pogba, who was substituted during last weekend’s Premier League defeat by Newcastle, would start in United’s fifth round tie at Huddersfield.
However, a statement by the club on Saturday morning confirmed that Pogba would not play any part, due to illness.
It read: “Paul Pogba will miss today’s #EmiratesFACup tie at Huddersfield due to illness. U23s midfielder Ethan Hamilton has taken his place in the squad.”
And Pogba, 24, delivered a swift response in a message to United supporters underlining the reason for his unforeseen absence.
He tweeted: “Gutted I won’t be at Huddersfield but I need to get better. Come on United.”
