Unai Emery is now the frontrunner for the vacant Arsenal job reports Mirror Sport.
The Gunners have gone cold on Mikel Arteta at the eleventh hour – and look set to give the job to Unai Emery.
According to the Mirror, Club officials met with Arteta last week and by Friday the former Arsenal captain was only waiting for confirmation.
However, the deal seemingly slowed down over the weekend, and former Paris Saint-Germain boss Emery flew into London for talks on Monday.
Mirror sport also reported that Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis is in negotiations with Emery and the 46-year-old Spaniard is now expected to be unveiled in the next 48 hours.
Emery won a domestic treble with PSG in 2017-18, but came under fire after failing to advance his side past the Champions League last-16 phase and was replaced by Thomas Tuchel.
He equally won three back-to-back Europa League titles while in charge of Sevilla.
