Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has professed his commitment to the Blues despite ‘serious’ links to Real Madrid.
The 25-year has been linked with a move to the Bernabeu and has openly admitted his desire to reunite with his children who live in Spain.
Speaking to Spanish reporters after the Champions League round of 16 first leg draw with Barcelona, Courtois said: “I have not made a decision on my future. I said my heart was in Madrid, because I have my two children there, and it was misinterpreted. This situation is not easy for me.
“I still have a year on my contract [at Chelsea], I am happy and I can also extend. I do not forget that Chelsea has supported me since the beginning.
“I do not think Florentino Perez will call me, but he will call my agent who will listen to him.”
However, in the wake of Chelsea’s elimination from the Champions League by the Catalan giants, Courtois who was blamed in some quarters for playing poorly on the night said;
“I’m committed to Chelsea,” he told the
Standard . “I have a contract until next year and I will be here. I will do my best for it.
“Obviously there is no extension signed but I don’t think now is the moment to do it. I think it is better to wait until the end of the season. All I can say is I’m committed to Chelsea and also committed for next year.”
“I have no other thing to say. It’s easy when you have only one year remaining that other people might say something,” he added.
“I’m a bit annoyed by it (the match verses Barcelona) because it’s a talking point and it’s a thing people went to dwell on.
“But I think the focus now should be on winning our League games to get a top four finish and back in the Champions League for next season as well as going through in the FA Cup.
“That’s the most important thing and is what we have to do as a group and for myself as well.”
