Manchester City boss – Pep Guardiola has identified David Silva, Kevin de Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan as the players that make his side thick.
The champions-elect beat Stoke city 2-0 in a Monday night premier league clash at Bet365 stadium and Spanish midfielder Silva proved his enduring class with his man-of-the-match display after scoring a brace.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Guardiola hailed the ‘competitive’ Silva.
“He controlled the tempo perfectly,” Guardiola said of the Spain international.
“Normally people say about his skills, his technical ability, but he is a competitor.
“He’s always there. He controls the game. The mix between David, Gundogan and Kevin, it helps us a lot.”
Silva who has not featured so frequently for City this season following the premature delivery of his son said; “I don’t know! When I play football I forget about everything else, it is good for me to play,” Silva told Sky Sports.
“My private life is very hard for me but my son is fighting and getting better.”
Manchester City will be crowned champions if they win their next two league matches against Everton (Away) and Manchester United (Home).
