Antonio Conte has insisted he wants to continue at Chelsea – but warned: “To move forward with the marriage everyone needs to be in agreement.”
After an encouraging performance against Barcelona in the Champions League on Tuesday, Conte was again asked about his future by the Italian media.
“Like I already said I have a contract with Chelsea until 2019. I want to respect it but anything can happen in football; Conte said.
“I’m happy here but to move forward with the marriage everyone needs to be in agreement. My intention is to continue.
“There was already talk about me getting sacked after the debut against Burnley.
“In our line of work, we always have a bag packed. It’s no problem for me, in fact I really like pressure. I just hope it doesn’t affect the players.
“Here they changed ten managers in fourteen years and the media plays on this when the results are negative.”
Conte admitted that Chelsea needed the “perfect match” but insists they can still beat Barcelona.
Conte added: “We needed the perfect match to win, we did so for most of the game but then we paid for the only mistake we made.
“We’ll need a great performance at the Camp Nou, there’s still a lot to be decided for the qualification.”
