KANO PILLARS’ STAR DIES IN AN AUTOCRASH.

The entire football fraternity in Nigeria were thrown into mourning following the untimely death of Kano Pillars defender Chinedu Udoji.

The 28-year-old Super Eagles star died in a fatal motor accident while returning to his lodge in Kano.

Chinedu Udoji played for Kano Pillars on Sunday evening, February 18, against his former club Enyimba at the Sanni Abacha Stadium, Kofarmata in Kano where he played the entire 90 minutes.

After the Nigeria Premier League game where Udoji was named man-of-the-match, the former captain of Enyimba took a short trip to spend some time with his former teammates at their hotel.

On his way back from the hotel, he was involved in a car accident and died instantly.

”Yes, I can confirm to you that we have lost Chinedu Udoji, and so unfortunate because he was one of our best players. For now, we are waiting for his death certificate from the hospital,” Kano Pillars’ spokeman Idris Malikawa said.

Nigeria football federation has also expressed shock following the death of the towering defender.

“The demise of @pillarsfc defender Chinedu Udoji comes as a rude shock to us this morning. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and club. May his soul rest in peace. #RIPUdoji,” NFF tweeted on Monday morning.

Similarly, Udoji’s former club, Enyimba Football Club of Aba have commiserated with the centre-back’s family following his untimely death.
“We are distraught at the news of the passing of club legend and former captain, Chinedu Udoji. Our commiserations are with his family at this time,” the seven-time Nigeria Professional Football League champions wrote on their official Twitter handle on Monday.

Enugu Rangers, Rivers United and other NPFL clubs also expressed their sadness over the 28-year-old defender’s death.
“What can we say? Rest In Peace Chinedu Udoji,” Rangers tweeted, while Rivers United posted a picture of Udoji with his young family

Udoji’s football career started in 2006 at FC Abuja before he was signed by two-time champions league winners – Enyimba where he won the NPFL titles and also the FA Cup.

He left behind a wife and two kids behind.
