Tension continue to mount at Stamford Bridge as every game now seem to be Antonio Conte’s last at Chelsea.
The Italian won the title in his debut season last term but his side are a whooping 19 points behind leaders Manchester City and are currently fourth in the league.
Monday night’s thrashing at Watford – on the back of the 3-0 loss at home to Bournemouth and a run of two wins in last ten games have left the 48-year old on the brink.
In a bid to get his side back on track after they fell apart at Vicarage Road , Conte has given his stars three days off.
This would come as a welcome relief for the players who had to do double sessions, excruciating drills during training, and even workouts on the day of games
During his time at Juventus, Conte lead the Bianconeri to Serie A glory in three successive seasons, and one of his lieutenants – veteran Italian defender, Giorgio Chiellini has compared his compatriot to a police officer.
“It is not only in the match with Conte. It is all day, every training session,” he told the Daily Mail. “He is like a police sergeant. We felt something very special in his atmosphere, for three years with him at Juventus and two years in the national team.
“When you finish training, you are dead. Not tired – dead. You can do it only because you believe in what he does.
“We had 40 days in France and it was like entering another world. You are 100 per cent with him. He creates an atmosphere, everyone gives energy to each other. For sure he is one of the very best.”
