Arsene Wenger has admitted that Arsenal need to urgently replace Alexis Sanchez – and insists the forward’s future will finally be decided in the next 48 hours.
Chilean winger Sanchez was left out of Arsenal’s squad to face Bournemouth on Sunday as he nears a £400,000-a-week move to Manchester United.
But without his services, the Gunners slumped to defeat, leaving them winless in 2018.
Hector Bellerin had given Arsenal the lead before the hour, but Callum Wilson and Jordon Ibe scored in quick succession to fire the Cherries to victory.
After the game, Wenger said: “If Sanchez goes we need to replace him.
“When you looked at today we missed many players and you see that they have a big weight in the team.”
On Sanchez’s potential move, Wenger added: “Will he go or not? I don’t know.
“At the moment it’s the transfer window and in this period we try to use the players who are focused on the club.
“It could happen today, tomorrow or not at all. I didn’t want to travel with him and then he goes somewhere.
“It will be decided in the next 48 hours. It was difficult for him because he was on standby a little bit.”
