Speaking during a press conference at the Aon Training Complex on Friday, Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho looked ahead of the fixture against Stoke City. He also gave update on Zlatan’s injury, “phenomenal” Alexis Sanchez and the warm weather training in Dubai.

ZLATAN’S INJURY

“Zlatan is injured, or is not totally happy with his condition.

He fought like a tiger, like he likes to say, to be back, which he did. He was starting having minutes here and there, he had a start, he had 60 minutes of one game and started another one, and had 45 [minutes], and he was not happy with his feelings.

“He consulted other doctors and other opinions, and we all made the decision to stop treatment. When he’s feeling really good, he can come back to work.

The date for him to be back to training with the team was around the end of January or beginning of February, so let’s hope his feelings are better and we have him as soon as possible.”

DUBAI WAS A HUGE SUCCESS
“It was very good. The facilities were unbelievable. The prince’s private facilities are better than any football club in the world. Unbelievable conditions to work, nice weather, three days of really, really good training. We developed things – people can think it’s good to rest, but not really.

“We developed things that we cannot develop when we have no time to train together. So hopefully we can improve our level because I really think it was good.

ON STOKE CITY GAME

We are all happy, we are lucky to play on Monday, which gave us this extra day to get back and, tomorrow, we are here again.”

ALEXIS SANCHEZ
“I don’t know if it’s ethical or correct to be speaking about players of other clubs.”

“If somebody speaks about one of my players to say they are interested or not interested, I wouldn’t be very very happy.

“Sanchez is an Arsenal player. I don’t know but, probably this weekend, he’s going to defend Arsenal colours, so I don’t think it’s correct to say things about Alexis Sanchez.

ON JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW
“At the general level what I can say is myself and the Manchester United board, the owners, we don’t believe a lot in the January market.

“We don’t believe in signing a player just to sign a player, just doing something – we don’t believe in that.
“What we believe really is there are some players in football world if you have the chance to sign them in January, March or July, you have to try, and that’s it.
“But in relation to Alexis Sanchez I don’t say a word.

“The only word I can say is that he’s a phenomenal player, apart from that Arsenal player, and I feel I shouldn’t say much more than this.”

ONGOING WAR OF WORDS WITH ANTONIO CONTE
“I think when a person insults another, you can expect a response.”

“Or you can expect contempt.

“The first time he insulted me I had a response, a response that I know that touched the point where he really feels hurt.
“Then he insulted me for a second time but now I change and now contempt and for me contempt means end of the story.”
