Chelsea legend John Terry has revealed what he would personally say to youth players after they joined Chelsea.
Terry who is now at championship side, Aston Villa, played 19 seasons of Premier League football at Stamford Bridge and became the club’s captain.ph.
Speaking about the next generation of players that would come through during his time, Terry told The Coaches’ Voice : “I speak to the younger players when they first sign for Chelsea, aged 16. I go and speak to the new age group coming into the club.
“Explain what Chelsea Football Club is all about, more importantly, but just talking to them about their pathway.
“Don’t just come here thinking you’ve got two years to see how it goes. Having experienced not only life skills but the journey as well in my career, there’s been some ups and downs on and off the field, that you can pass that message on.
“It’s something that I’m really passionate about.
“If you want to be the best, this is what you have to do.”
During his time at Stamford Bridge, Terry 37 led the Blues to five Premier League titles, five FA Cups, three League Cups, one Champions League title and one Europa League triumph.
