Coutinho will be made feel right at home in Barcelona, with his housing arrangements appearing to be sorted by former and future team-mate Luis Suarez.
The former Liverpool striker couldn’t fathom his friend staying in a hotel with his young family and arranged a house that, should Coutinho approve of it, see him become neighbours with Suarez and superstar Lionel Messi.
Even before a fee was agreed, Suarez is said to have told president Josep Maria Bartomeu he would look after Coutinho.
“‘No, presidente, there is no need for a hotel. I already have a house for him,” Suarez is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.
Coutinho told the paper, embedded during his transfer to Barca: “[Suarez] saw that a house next to his became available. He didn’t know I was coming for certain but he liked the idea.
“It’s a kind gesture. We’ve seen the pictures, the views look amazing. We are in touch all the time and I look forward to seeing the property with my family. I know Luis will help us to feel at home.”
The midfielder agreed his £142m move from Liverpool on Saturday night – becoming the second-most expensive player in the world as he did so, behind only his fellow Brazilian Neymar.
