Former Real Madrid and Manchester City star Robinho has been sentenced to nine years in prison for sexual assault.
According to the mirror sport, an Italian court ruled the Brazilian and five others assaulted a 22-year-old Albanian girl in a nightclub in 2013, while Robinho was at AC Milan.
Robinho, who did not appear at any of the court hearings pleaded not guilty to the charge via his lawyer.
The other five men were also found guilty in this case.
Robinho has the right to two appeals and the Italian court will only launch extradition proceedings once the legal process is exhausted.
The court has ordered the victim to receive €60,000 (£53,431.02) as compensation for her suffering.
Marisa Alija Ramos, Robinho’s agent and lawyer, said: “With regards to the allegations surrounding Robinho, the alleged incident took place several years ago.
“I clarify that my client has already defended himself against the charges and maintains he played no part in the incident. All legal steps are already being taken in response to this decision.”
Robinho, also played for Real Madrid and Manchester City, and has made 100 appearances for the Brazil national team and scored 28 goals.
He now plays for Brazilian club, Atletico Mineiro.
